The APS 5 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) Assessor reports directly to an APS ACAR Team Leader in the SA state office of the Australian Department of Health, Health Grants & Network Division.
Current vacancies exist for short term non-ongoing contracts (13th Aug to 19th Oct or as advised of extension). 37.5 hours a week, CBD location.
To be eligible to apply you must be an Australian Citizen and have a current police clearance.
Assessors will be responsible for the timely and effective assessment of applications from approved providers of aged care for additional residential aged care and short term restorative care places, which will be released in the 2018-19 ACAR. Assessment of applications will occur in each HGND state and territory office reporting through project governance arrangements to the national policy branch.
To be successful in this role, assessors will require a high level of integrity, and strong communication, analytic and organisational skills to contribute to the successful delivery of ACAR objectives. Assessors will exercise sound judgement and a high degree of discretion in dealing with commercial in-confidence and sensitive business matters.
Assessors will work collaboratively with others and build productive relationships to achieve results within strict timeframes and an intense environment.
Training will be provided to assist assessors to undertake their role for the project period.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
ACAR Assessors will be required to:
- Assess evidence provided in applications against legislative requirements and following assessment guidelines and processes;
- Complete assessment of allocated applications on time and bring matters to the attention of relevant local managers where timely assessment may not be reached;
- Provide clearly written, sound and defensible assessment statements to justify assessment ratings;
- Act within probity requirement at all time, including after business hours
- Draft supporting documentation and record ratings using departmental e-tools;
- Contribute to team discussions and consensus views on assessments;
- Undertake filing and records management functions ensuring records are accurate, complete and managed in accordance with department policy;
- Adhere to the Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct and Department of Health policy and procedures;
- Perform other tasks as required.
