The Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Planning Services team is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Planner.

The position is responsible for providing and facilitating a high-quality service in relation to the Planning and Environment Act and Mornington Peninsula Planning Scheme.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

Experience in assessing large scale and complex planning permit applications and a thorough understanding of Council’s legislative requirements is essential to the role.

To help provide for the long-term planning framework for the Mornington Peninsula, experience in strategic land use Planning projects will be highly regarded.

You will provide direct support to the principal planners, team leaders and managers within the Planning Services Unit as appropriate and be committed to continuous improvement in relation to the productivity of the team.

Skills & Experience

You will have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to be customer focused while managing a significant workload in a fast pace environment.

You will have the ability to work in a digitised and electronic processing environment.

You will have experience in processing planning scheme amendments and strategic planning projects would be advantageous.

An Undergraduate degree in town planning or a related discipline (e.g.: environmental science, urban design, land surveying, architecture, etc) and knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Subdivision Act 1988, and other relevant Acts and Regulations as well as a current driver’s licence is essential to the position.

A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Police Records Check is required prior to commencing employment with the Shire.
