An exciting opportunity exists for a suitable person to join a team of Rangers in Council’s Animal Management Team.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of animal management and residential amenity standards within the municipality, through the enforcement of legislative controls relating to animal management, local law activity, land use, fire prevention, school crossing supervision and public safety.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of Council's Local Law service.
  • Assist with the Council’s Municipal Fire Prevention Strategy.
  • Undertake education of the community and general public in regard to policies and legislation governing animal management, local laws, fire prevention and matters of public safety.
  • Be available to work regularly rostered evenings, weekends and 24-hour emergency on-call shifts

There is potential for a successful applicant to commence as a Senior Officer (Band 5) should they demonstrate through the recruitment process of their extensive industry knowledge, previous leadership experience and formal qualifications.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
