You’ll be working as part of a high calibre team in a collegiate environment with corporate Commonwealth entity that provides terrorism reinsurance. Our client provides insurers with reinsurance for commercial property and associated business interruption losses arising from a declared terrorist incident. Its vision is to be an effective provider of terrorism risk insurance that facilitates private participation, supports national resilience and reduces losses arising from catastrophic events caused by terrorism.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Governance and Compliance, the key purpose of this role is to provide subject matter expertise in all areas of Compliance including compliance planning and testing, and manage the organisation’s Compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, Government policy, Board policy and associated processes and procedures.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and maintain the Compliance environment including a compliance plan covering testing and adequate oversight of Compliance risks
- Provide advice to the Senior Manager, Governance and Compliance regarding impacts of new and amended legislation, regulation, industry codes and group policies
- Enhance and oversee processes for identifying, reporting, investigating and addressing Compliance breaches and monitor Staff Compliance with internal policy documents
- Analyse and assess compliance impacts of new and amended legislation, regulation, industry codes and policies
- Engage and educate the team about relevant Compliance matters
- Develop and deliver annual staff training programs
- Report and ensure accurate record keeping to maintain the Compliance Register, coordinating Compliance Declarations and Compliance Reporting
- Provide administrative support to the Board Secretariat
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Finance or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in Compliance management
- It would also be desirable, but not essential, to have a knowledge of insurance, reinsurance banking or financial services
