The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.
We are looking for enthusiastic community minded individuals to promote and advise on the provision of bushfire information and support services through the delivery of CFA programs including Community Fireguard, Fire Ready Victoria, Bushfire Planning Workshops and other Community Safety initiatives as directed. In this position you will have a key role in helping people to take responsibility for their own bushfire safety and to develop their own survival strategies.
Full training will be provided for successful applicants on Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd and is a mandatory requirement to undertake the role.
To be successful in obtaining one of these positions you will have:
- Undergraduate qualification in community education, community development or environmental management, and/or experience in developing/delivering programs working with communities.
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of planning, leading and facilitating groups and meetings.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Efficient and effective written communication and reporting skills with the ability to meet ongoing deadlines on sensitive or complex matters.
- Demonstrated understanding of bushfire behaviour, CFA Community Safety messages and local environmental issues is desirable.
- Ability to operate as a member of a team and work with minimal supervision
