Salary: Remuneration package of up to $107,262 p.a., comprising salary range of $87,796 - $94,010 p.a. (+ any other applicable allowances/benefits including RANIP and rural and remote allowances) (Nurse Grade 6), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%). About the Unit
Mount Isa Hospital Cancer Care Unit is a 5 chair day unit providing curative and palliative chemotherapy for medical oncology patients. The Cancer Care Unit focuses on delivering comfortable and supportive care for patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. We endeavour to personalise care to suit the individual needs of our patients.

The Cancer Care Unit aims to deliver quality care closer to the home of our patients by liaising with Townsville Hospital through our telehealth/tele-oncology program providing patients with specialist oncology input without having to travel large distances.

About the Role

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for ensuring Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia and own standards and actions (at advanced level) and the delegation and supervision of care to a Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse or unregulated healthcare worker including Assistants in Nursing.
  • Contribute to leading positive patient outcomes across the care continuum by demonstrating advanced nursing leadership, management and clinical care in the assessment, care and evaluation of nursing interventions for patients with complex care needs for the oncology specialty.
  • Contribute to the leadership, management and coordination of comprehensive care in the Cancer Care Unit at an advanced level demonstrating professional leadership in care, clinical innovation, governance and risk management.

Requirements

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and possession of a current annual licence certificate is mandatory.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
