Purpose of the role:

Lead and manage the development and delivery of facilities projects to routine maintenance activities so as to achieve the stated outcomes, within the approved safety, environmental, budget, time frame, scope, procurement, contractual, operational and quality requirements.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage facilities projects and routine maintenance projects to deliver specified outcomes for stakeholders and sponsors in terms of safety, scope, quality, standards, budget, timeframes and customer expectations, while ensuring that projects do not compromise fleet system safety, availability or reliability.
  • Facilitate projects to ensure they are compliant with organisational standards and legislative requirements including documentation in accordance with our Government client’s project management methodology processes and procedures ensuring that reporting and records are maintained using Facility Maintenance Division system frameworks to ensure transparency of risk management and allow management to make informed decisions.
  • Work with strategic procurement for formalised contracts for facilities maintenance while contributing to the creation of future contracts by looking for opportunities across facilities spend categories
  • Implement key performance indicators to facilitate the development of appropriate efficiency and financial indicators, to support the measurement of performance across facilities maintenance projects.
  • Ensure relationships with stakeholders are appropriately managed and establish formal and informal consultative processes to engage required stakeholders in the achievement of objectives
  • Adhere to performance agreements to drive the effective and efficient utilisation of projects and resources and achievement of agreed quality outcomes

Key challenges:

  • Managing the development and delivery of fleet and facilities projects and monitoring the project delivery process, given the range and complexity of projects taking place concurrently
  • Manage projects for the fleets and facilities which meet the performance targets, maintenance budgets and diverse stakeholder requirements, given the stringent safety and environmental standards concerned and the complexity of the projects and the Governments operating environments
  • Establishing a co-operative framework with the maintenance centres within which much of the project delivery work will be undertaken and fostering the establishment of production capability in a formerly maintenance orientated environment.

Essential requirements:

  • Appropriate project management qualifications or demonstrated minimum 5 years’ experience in project management is required.
  • Proven success in project management (including initiation, development, integration, scope, time, cost, quality, team, communications, risk, procurement and financial management aspects and project reporting) in a commercially focused environment.
  • Analytical, problem solving, negotiation and decision making skills
  • Proven strong stakeholder management skills and ability to drive expectations to mutually agreed quality business outcomes
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Project Management
