About the role

MercyCare is seeking Peer Support Worker to join the Enhanced Family Support Network for Mirrabooka and Joondalup on a casual basis.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Intensive Case Manager to assist in improving the wellbeing of families; parents and children, by following a developed action plan. The Peer Support Worker acts as a coach and mentor, to help families to achieve goals, share and discuss common experiences and initiate, establish and maintain relationships with families while developing and building trust and rapport.

Minimum requirements

  • Lived experience of child protection and family support services  
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of issues facing parents in crisis
  • Understanding of family dynamics and family issues, including in culturally diverse communities
  • Practical knowledge navigating personal and professional boundaries when working with families facing adversity and crisis
  • Current Working with Children Card
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
