Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Tourism Manager to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.

Reporting to the Economic Development Manager, the position is responsible for the management and operations of the Lithgow Visitors Information Centre and working with the tourism industry to develop and implement effective tourism marketing strategies that seek to attract visitors to Lithgow. They will also be responsible for managing relationships with local operators, regional, state and national tourism offices and tourism industry bodies to maximise the benefit of tourism for the community. 

Development and implementation of events marketing and promotional plans will also be a  part of the responsibilities of this role.

Specific duties include;         

  • Assist in achieving the objectives of Lithgow City Council’s Regional Economic Development Strategy and the Lithgow Destination Management Plan.
  • Strong strategic alliances developed and effective liaison with key industry stakeholders, community groups and local tourism operators.
  • Gather and interpret up-to-date tourism information and keep industry members informed on trends, statistics, new products, cooperative opportunities and the like.
  • Develop and execute an annual communications, media (mainstream and social) and PR program inclusive of content for the Economic Development and Tourism newsletter and act as media spokesperson for the industry.
  • As appropriate organise and run Lithgow participation in domestic consumer shows, international sales missions and trade shows.
  • Effectively budget and manage funds for the tourism marketing program
  • Leading staff of the Visitor Information Centre and undertaking annual performance reviews for Section staff and implementing and monitor training plans.
  • Coordinating the day to day operations of the Lithgow Visitor Information Centre.
  • Provide input into the preparation of Council’s Management Plan and Budget and report on outcomes on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Develop and implement policies and standard working procedures relevant to the Section.
  • Develop and maintain service levels for functions of the Department through the development of performance measurement indicators.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Work with the Events Coordinator to develop and implement events’ marketing activities.
  • Collect and analyse relevant data to measure the economic impact of tourism programs.
  • Manage sponsorship and trade contracts for council-coordinated marketing programs and events.
  • Undertake duties as required and as directed by the Economic Development Manager.
  • Liaise with Tourism Organisations and other Visitor Information Centres as required.

 

This role requires that the successful applicant hold a current C Class Drivers Licence.
