The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager – Network Intelligence, to lead a team of multi-disciplinary analyst, data scientist and specialist to deliver diverse, complex and specialised BI and visualisation services within Roads and Maritime Services. 

     This position plays a key role in leading and supporting the Business intelligence team to understand performance of the Roads and Maritime network. As an analytics expert with broad experience, this role will be responsible for leading a cross functional team of analysts from the functions of Data Development & Governance, Road Asset Information, Traffic Modelling, Data Science, Visualisation and Geospatial analysis.
 

      Key accountabilities for this role include, but not limited to:
• Lead the development of insights and make recommendations to influence traffic volumes, Journey Time Reliability, and safety of the Roads and Maritime network.
• Provide professional support, guidance and expert advice, as the SME, to colleagues in delivering value through analytical and visualisation tools and techniques.
• Lead the development of insights and recommendations to explain the factors and magnitude of impact on network performance and to visualise data that empowers better decision making, with minimal latency.
• Lead the review and implementation of both existing and new data self-serve process of Network and Asset Intelligence.
 

We are looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Manager who has the ability to communicate and engage at all levels and has experience leading in a matrix environment, preferably using Agile principles.

The salary for this position is USS 11 ($135,443 - $144,521) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.

Essential requirements

• Qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics
• Expert level skills and experience using SQL with ability to mentor Analysts writing SQL
• Knowledge of relational databases and architecture
• Enthusiasm and passion for data, with the will to challenge the status quo
• Knowledge and experience of data Visualisation applications and techniques, technologies, trends and solutions (i.e. Tableau, Business Objects)
• Knowledge and experience using Advanced Analytics applications (SAS, R)
• Experience with Big Data platforms and associated applications
. Demonstrated ability to deliver in complex and data environment
. Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes and improve business process
