The Role

The dedicated Safer Communities team is excited about the recent refresh to the way in which Animal Management and Amenity Protection will be delivered to our developing community. With this refocus, a fantastic new opportunity is available for a motivated leader to oversee the coordination of day to day responsibilities, management of staff, the implementation of relevant legislation ensuring community compliance and the protection of local amenity.

This position aims to support the community to achieve compliance with regulations through information provision, education and enforcement.  You will achieve this using a positive, collaborative and customer focussed approach, using  digital technology and 'Smart Cities' principles where appropriate to support continuous improvement and innovation.

An objective of the role will be to provide direction on a range of effective and efficient Animal Management and Local Law related programs and services that address key animal and amenity issues including supervising a number of existing key contracts (animal pound services, grass cutting etc).

This role works in collaboration with the Coordinator Parking & Compliance Management to ensure City Compliance related data, debt and compliance reporting is managed effectively.

About You

You are a dynamic and well organised individual who will be able to demonstrate your effective leadership skills through previous staff management to develop the culture of this new team. You will be able to prioritise tasks with competing deadlines and collaborate with other coordinators in the department. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to engage with stakeholders (including contractors, emergency services etc) at all levels from within and outside the council. Your observation, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities teamed with your keen interest in local law enforcement to provide a safer community, will support system and process improvements within the Department.

You will have a relevant qualification such as a Cert IV in Local Government Statutory Investigation and Enforcement, Animal Control and Regulation or Justice and significant experience in compliance related management.
