We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated librarian with a strong customer focus, to join our team of staff committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community.  This is a limited tenure part time role working 14 hours per week (Mondays and Tuesdays) until 16 April 2019. Regular weekend and evening work is required.

 

As Children’s and Youth Services Librarian you will be responsible for developing and delivering programs and managing collections for children and teenagers at Hawthorn Library.  This position is also involved in community outreach activities, to stimulate interest and raise awareness of teenage and children’s services and collections available at the library.

 

To be successful you will require a Tertiary qualification that is recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association and allows you to practice as a Librarian and Information Specialist, and high level computing skills including the use of web tools and social media.   Familiarity with and/or knowledge of relevant other language(s) and culture(s), a strong knowledge of youth and children’s literature, plus awareness of the diversity of the community, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also integral to this role.
