This leading Government department is seeking a Senior Policy Officer who will contribute to policy development and implementation for youth employment and to support the disability sector, by undertaking consultation and providing data analytics and research to shape appropriate policy options.
Key Accountabilities:
- Research, analyse and review complex youth employment and disability sector related policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks
- Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies and support Departmental and/or Government policy initiatives
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of youth employment and disability sector related policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes
- Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with agency requirements, to respond to Agency and/or Government requests
- Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development and implementation, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, meeting reporting requirements, managing contracts and supporting project-related activities
Requirements:
- Detailed knowledge of the machinery of Government, including Cabinet and legislative processes
- Proven ability to understand and interpret a wide variety of legislation
- Experience in policy development, implementation and review
- Broad understanding of human services sector, relevant policy and legislative framework
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong negotiating skills
