The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time permanent Technical Manager to join our growing Rail System Development (RSD) team within the Operational Systems branch in the Infrastructure and Services division.
The primary purpose of the role is to plan, execute and provide expertise in system integration activities for the portfolio of projects within RSD (Automatic Train Protection, Digital Systems, New Intercity Fleet) and across the transportation cluster.

As Technical Manager you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of specialist technical engineering services within our project environment by:

  • Developing and implementing project specific plans, methods, tools and procedures (Engineering Management, Interface Management, Verification & Validation, Change Management, Test & commissioning).
  • Providing expertise for the resolution of interface issues between Sub-systems (infra, onboard, trackside, operators and maintainers)
  • Identifying hazards and risks, and ensure that risks are adequately mitigated
  • Executing design and system integration activities.

The role will provide, with full responsibility and accountability, the relevant management with direct reports, professional and technical leadership to achieve development and integration activities.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Manager with strong experience in design, integration and validation of complex railway signalling control systems (ETCS, CBTC or comparable technology) in brownfield environment and Matrix organisation. Strong interpersonal skills along with a proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships are sought.

Essential requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or a relevant discipline and/or equivalent and proven experience in the development and management of integrated project controls.
