Your new company
This major Victorian state government is committed to the betterment of the Victorian environment and planning, through major reform it continues to be at the forefront of change for the Victorian state government. A vacancy exists now exists for a Senior Policy Officer (VPS5/6) to work alongside a highly capable policy team focused on a reform program, focused around the Victorian resource recovery market, from their offices based in the Melbourne CBD.
Your new role
The role of Senior Policy Officer, is available for an initial one month contract (immediate start). Initially your role will involve synthesising previous research and data, assessing the nature the Victorian resource recovery market, its operators, their locations and the nature of risks to human health and environment that may be associated with their activities. Following analysis of this research you will segment the market based on characteristics identified in the research. The role will see you work with a highly intelligent team and a range of internal/ external stakeholders, gathering a wide range of information in order to suggest and develop new policies for the group.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful applicant you will need skills in policy research, policy analysis and development. You will have experience working within government, having taken a lead in policy development and research. Ideally you have experience of working within a strategic and/or operational policy environment. Experience or knowledge of the following is also required:
- Data collection and analysis, research
- Excellent written communication, policy analysis/ development
- Market segmentation skills are desirable
- Experience working within an environmental and/or resources related subject area is beneficial
