The Opportunity & Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Specialist to join the Social and Other Infrastructure Assessments team within The Department of Planning & Environment. This role will report to Karen Harragon, Director for Social and Other Infrastructure Assessments.
 
The Principal Planning Officer takes a lead role in the assessment of complex major development projects to meet statutory obligations and Government policy objectives. A further key component of the role is to drive best practice and innovative processes in assessment and stakeholder engagement to meet Government goals for a more robust and efficient state planning system that achieves strategic infrastructure, economic and growth objectives.
 
The Candidate:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can:
? Produce high quality work on a range of planning assessment matters and respond to enquiries in a timely manner within applicable legislation, regulatory and policy frameworks.
? Identify and contribute to planning initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment with tight timeframes, competing priorities and conflicting stakeholder?s needs, views and opinions.
? Translate complex technical information into easy to understand plain English guidelines, reports and communications.
? Apply project management principles to the assessment of state significant development.
 
Essential requirements

? Degree in planning, environmental management, engineering or other relevant discipline
? Demonstrated high level knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes
? Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Driver?s Licence
