What you'll be doing
The Senior Health Clinician - Substance Use in Pregnancy & Parenting Services (SUPPS) will lead and promote the delivery of high quality multidisciplinary Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol services through expert clinical input, workforce capability development, quality improvement strategies and collaboration for integration with other relevant services. The clinician will primarily work with mothers and their children up to 24 months of age.
Selection Criteria
- According to discipline: Nursing (Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1) – AHPRA Registration, 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and approved post registration qualifications in Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol; or Occupational Therapist (Level 4) – AHPRA Registration, knowledge and skills to meet requirements at Level 2 of the Health Professionals Award (HPA); or Social Worker (Level 4) -Bachelor degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the AASW, knowledge and skills to meet requirements at Level 2 of HPA; or Psychology - AHPRA Registration as a Psychologist, a Master's Degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist or eligibility to be a Clinical Psychology Registrar with AHPRA; or Welfare Officer (Level 4) - Bachelor Health Science (Mental Health) through the Djirruwang Program, knowledge and skills to meet requirements at Level 2 of HPA.
- Significant clinical MHDA skills, with the ability to expertly manage complex clinical situations, think critically and solve problems effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of contemporary MHDA practice relevant to the service/ program/ speciality, rural/ remote service provision and practical application of relevant MHDA legislation and policy.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to document accurately, write proficiently, consult effectively with others, negotiate and develop collaborative partnerships with a range of stakeholders.
- Competency in the use of information and communication technology, including standard office software, for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation.
- Ability to lead individuals and teams, contributing to capability development, clinical engagement and team culture.
- The ability to collaborate and work effectively and sensitively with a diverse range of clients, including remote communities and Aboriginal people.
- Experience and knowledge in drug and alcohol assessment, care planning and treatment modalities for pregnant and post natal women, with experience in delivering family focused services, and hold a licence to drive in NSW with the ability to drive occasionally for work purposes.
