Agency overview
The Department of Planning & Environment is the lead NSW Government agency in planning for a growing NSW. The Department is going through an exciting period of organisational and operational change.

The Department’s two related agencies - the Office of Environment & Heritage and the Office of Local Government - support the conservation and protection of the environment and an effective local government sector in NSW. Several other entities associated with the Department include the Environment Protection Authority, statutory trusts responsible for zoos, parks and gardens, independent assessment and planning bodies, and development corporations.
 
About the Role:
In this role you will be leading and managing a team of 5, involving a high volume of work with competing demands, operating within a variety of legislative and policy parameters across all levels of government, including managing/approving fast-track heritage permit approvals under Heritage Act 1977, while building a new team and providing excellent customer service.
 
Primary purpose of the role
Lead and manage a customer service team that provides a centralised focus for customers, supports the heritage operations activities and manages a high quality customer service system across the Heritage Division.
 
Essential requirements
Knowledge and experience in heritage, customer service or relevant field.
Understanding of Aboriginal culture and communities
 
To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:
Along with the essential requirements you will have the ability to work in a high-volume environment, provide a quick turnaround, provide advice quickly and have process improvement skills.
 
As the role involves managing/approving fast-track heritage permit approvals under Heritage Act 1977 knowledge around this process is highly desirable.
 
You should possess excellent communication and management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and deliver results.
