The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Director of Nursing (Clinical Governance and Innovation) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH)where the focus of our 9000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region.

You will take responsibility for

  • Provide strategic direction for Clinical Governance, Innovation and Research and provide expert advice and supervision which ensures service delivery is aligned to business goals, relevant corporate, national and state-wide plans, legislation and contemporary evidence based Mental Health Service delivery
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director and Divisional Executive to build individual and service capacity to address priority MHSS issues through Clinical Governance, Innovation and Research, and innovative models of service delivery
  • Provide strategic direction for strategic development, coordination and implementation of clinical governance within MHSS by implementing strategies and providing expert advice which ensures service delivery is aligned to business goals, relevant corporate, national and state-wide plans and priorities, legislation and contemporary evidence based Mental Health Service
  • Participate and represent the MHSS in setting state-wide standards of performance, safety, client care, inter-service and interagency coordination and collaboration

Requirements for the role

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 with a current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is essential. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties
  • A Bachelor or Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position
  • A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion of post-graduate study within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance review process
  • Registered nurses working within Mental Health are to be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses, or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental health nursing within an agreed period of time
  • Experience in senior nursing positions is highly desirable

Salary information

  • Permanent full time position
  • Base salary ranging from $126 721 - $132 862 per annum
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
