- AVP 3.1 – AVP4.2 ($63,764.82 - $78,028) plus super and annual leave loading
The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Mechanics to join our Major Works Division within Sydney Trains. This position is responsible for carrying out various plant maintenance activities on mobile and stationary plant equipment in accordance with relevant Sydney Trains, Safe Work NSW, WH&S and Environmental Regulations.
Activities include but are not limited to maintenance of heavy on track machinery specialised rail machinery, general earthmoving equipment and small specialist rail plant and machinery.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role are:
• Diagnosing, locating and rectifying faults in mobile or stationary plant and equipment
• Stripping, inspecting, rebuilding and/or replacing faulty component assemblies and verifying correct machine operation through testing
• Carrying out manual metal arc and oxy acetylene non-structural welding, cutting and heating tasks associated with plant repair and maintenance.
• Carrying out basic fitting and machining operations associated with plant repairs
We are looking for someone with technical knowledge of plant and machinery and the ability to troubleshoot a range of different mechanical/electrical systems and their faults.
You must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
