Council’s Communications team provides communications advice to teams across the organisation and is responsible for the development and distribution of a range of digital and print communications collateral that positively promotes Council’s programs, events and initiatives.

About the role:
We are seeking a subject expert in online content, who can see the big picture and champion change. This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of content across Council’s website/s, ensuring that sites are informative, accurate, accessible and user friendly, and are effective in promoting Council’s functions, services and events. This position works closely with staff and teams across the organisation providing training, advice and guidance on best practice content development. On a daily basis you will be responsible for writing, editing and publishing of content across Council’s internal and external website/s, ensuring compliance with the website content framework and guidelines, and optimising content for all devices (desktop, tablet and mobile) and search engines.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience in the administration, management and maintenance of a large website using a complex content management system
  • A broad understanding of online technologies and trends, including social media and how website content can be leveraged across multiple platforms.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated capacity to write and copy-edit content for online audiences, including the ability to apply corporate style, use plain English, and optimise content for usability and search engine success
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of analytics tools, including Google Analytics and Google Web Master, to source and analyse data that informs website improvements and decision-making
