About ESTA

ESTA is the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies and it partners with the agencies to improve service delivery to the community. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for police, fire, ambulance and VICSES and manages the provision of advanced, operational communications for police, ambulance, fire services and the SES.  Its vision is to be a high-performing team trusted by the community and our partners to deliver the right emergency response. And its central goal is to save lives and prevent harm through speed and accuracy in emergency operations.

About the role

The Project Communications Advisor provides advice, assistance, and support to leaders within the organisation. This will include the planning, coordination, and delivery of key communication activities, linking the goals and objectives of the team's delivery portfolio. This will also contribute to achieving ESTA goals, specifically improving staff engagement, and key strategic priorities.

The variety and challenge of this role will come from:

  • Plan, design, coordinate, and deliver communication activities, including the finalisation of ESTA's Change Proposal for major projects.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with Call-taking & Dispatch (CTD), middle and senior management.
  • Provide timely and high quality advice to ESTA leaders, on appropriate strategies to communicate change, and build engagement within ESTA.
  • Contribute to other BAU internal and other communication activities, in partnership with other departments.
  • Understand ESTA OH&S policies and procedures, and be actively involved in minimising risks to health and safety, where reasonably practicable.
  • Act in accordance with ESTA Values and Behaviours, regularly undertaking a personal assessment and reflection against these. 

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary/undergraduate qualifications in communications preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills and personal presentation.
  • Demonstrable high level strategic internal communications capabilities, including experience with contemporary communications strategies that support change.
  • Experience in a broad Corporate Affairs or an equivalent function.
  • Ability to work to a high standard with limited supervision and within matrix-style arrangements; self-starting.
  • Advanced computer skills including CMS, design, editing, and Microsoft Office.
