About the role

The Research Specialist manages and reports on studies, such as the National Visitors Survey and International Visitor Survey, and bespoke research projects. The role undertakes quantitative and qualitative analysis of issues that are of interest to Queensland’s tourism industry and communicates the findings to the industry. 

 

Duties

  • Process, analyse and interpret data from various data sources, including the National Visitor Survey and International Visitor Survey, and primary research projects on consumer studies
  • Manage the provision of quality primary and secondary information/market intelligence as required by TEQ, including the delivery of a suite of publications
  • Disseminate project findings to all clients, internal and external
  • Work in partnership with Tourism Research Australia, Tourism Australia, and/or other stakeholders on national tourism research agenda
  • Work closely with other TEQ departments to ensure an integrated approach to department activities
  • Prepare and coordinate ministerial submissions, briefing papers, and reports for the Ministers Office, senior management and other relevant stakeholders as required

 

Skills and experience 

  • Tertiary level qualifications in psychology, statistics, business, economics, or a related discipline
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in data analysis and interpretation including the ability to triangulate research from a variety of sources to produce insights and reports
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience in initiating and managing bespoke research projects
  • Ability to present research and insights to stakeholders
  • Substantial experience using statistical software to complete research analysis and produce timely and relevant reports

Statistical analysis and economic modelling skills will also be beneficial in the role.
