As a member Strategy and Program - Delivery division, the Project Engineer - Signalling will assess and participate in the performance of signalling engineering and project activities within the railway environment and provide technical assistance to the department as required.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager Signalling, your main area of responsibility will encompass the scoping and delivery of projects.  You will provide technical and engineering expertise for the investigation and analysis of engineering systems (project engineering analysis and review), project management and technology solution development.  You will work on a diverse range of projects including the annual works plan (AWP) and Regional Rail Revival (RRR) and ensure works are undertaken in a safe manner and in accordance with operating standards. In addition, you will oversee contractor management, oversee cost controls, review design submissions and applications from those looking to undertake works and develop specifications and work instructions.

A minimum of 5 years proven experience in the delivery of projects within a rail environment is essential. A Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline is desirable. A Post Graduate Diploma in Railway Signalling and Telecommunications is desirable. You will be a self-starter with a positive ‘can do attitude’, possess strong communication skills and be risk and compliance focused.

You will be required to travel between sites, work weekends and nights as required and work reasonable overtime so you must hold a current Driver’s License.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, national probity (police) check and medical examination in line with the National Standard for Health Assessment for Rail Safety Workers.
