V/Line, Victoria's largest regional passenger transport operator, has a proud history of serving its communities and customers through rail and coach services. As part of a constantly evolving industry, V/Line is responsible for over 80 train stations and maintenance of approximately 4,200 kilometres of rail track across Victoria. Reporting to the Bridge Ganger, the Structures Maintainer’s position is responsible for carrying out tasks associated with maintenance and renewal projects including civil structures and bridges for the Victorian rail network under the direction of the relevant supervisor.
In addition to participating in the maintenance of bridges, culverts, signals structures, signage, platforms, and other miscellaneous structures you will complete all necessary reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions, claim forms etc as directed.
To be successful in securing this role, you will need to be competent in the use of hand tools, have strong attention to detail, hold a relevant driver’s license and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be willing to undertake further training and be trained in Track Awareness and will be flexible in regards to working reasonable overtime. You will also need to be able to respond to emergencies after hours as required and there will be a requirement to work away from home and work day/afternoon or night shifts in various locations around Victoria as required.
The successful applicant will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Infrastructure Enterprise Agreement 2015-2019 IMW (TRACK) 1.1 ($29.7691 per hour).
The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, national probity (police) check and medical examination in line with the National Standard for Health Assessment for Rail Safety Workers.
