About this role
Challenging role in a fast paced dynamic environment, you will lead a team and provide high quality Financial performance reporting and accounting services, technical accounting advice, and accounting services for the Divisions and Branches of the Ministry of Health (Head Office).

Where you'll be working
The role sits within the Budget Management and Accounting Unit (BMAU) in the Financial Services and Asset Management (FSAM) Division of the Ministry of Health. You will have interaction with other teams within the FSAM Division and other Divisions and Branches in the Ministry and thus have a unique opportunity to engage with other finance professionals, and Directors and Program Managers within the Branches. 

What you'll be doing
The Principal Financial Analyst Leading the Branch Accounting and Reporting Team is responsible for the preparation of monthly Management reports and monitoring of performance against budget and forecast for the Ministry of Health Divisions and Branches, and providing a range of accounting services. The Branch Accounting and Reporting Team also provide accounting services, high level analysis, and reporting to Senior Management in Finance and also in the Divisions and Branches.
 
To be successful in this role, you will

  • Possess relevant accounting tertiary qualifications and Membership to a recognised Accounting professional body.
  • Have an understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, and public sector accounting requirements
  • Have extensive skills and experience in Management Accounting and analysis within a large and complex organisation
  •  Be able to lead a team in providing clear and accurate Management Reporting and budget performance analysis for senior management and other stakeholders.

In doing so, please describe a situation where you have been responsible for implementing improvements to reporting systems, analysis of data, and information provided to Senior Management. How did you manage the process, and outline how you overcame any challenges that you faced?
 
2) Describe a recent situation where you managed a team, worked with internal and external stakeholders, to deliver a number of concurrent objectives with competing deadlines.
