Our client, a council based in the Sydney Metro area is seeking an experienced Waste Manager for a temporary role.

The duties will include but are not limited to:

• Lead and supervise the team in delivering waste management services to internal and external stakeholders. The position will enforce operational compliance with all on-site activities in accordance with relevant legislation to the position.
• Undertake Operational activities and tasks were required to ensure the team meets its business plan commitments including maintenance of waste management stations in the facilities and improvements are made continually.
• Provide strategic direction and develop waste related strategies for Council, including waste awareness strategies and make sure they are implemented.
• Ensure all staff is competent in the operation of all site plant and machinery in accordance with operation procedures in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
• Manage WHS risks to ensure safety of staff, contractors and patrons including periodical inspections and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.

The successful candidate will have the following skillset and experience:

• Good understanding of operational aspects of waste management services to internal and external stakeholders preferably in a Local Government context
• High level of communication skills and ability to inspire and motivate a team to work cooperatively.
• A sound practical knowledge of the use of plant, machinery and maintenance within the waste industry.
• Demonstrated intermediate computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite.
• The ability to prioritise planned and reactive maintenance works.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence and current White Card.
