About the Digital Government Team

In February 2018, the NSW government launched its Digital.nsw Accelerator to rapidly deliver prototypes of high impact and high value digital products to address pain points citizens face when interacting with government.

With a focus on deeply understanding customer needs using a human centred design approach, the Accelerator will see NSW government departments collaborate with citizens to co-design public services and products that are smart, simple and seamless. The Accelerator uses a human-centred design process and Lean, Agile methodology of rapid delivery that fast-tracks the life cycle of digital projects, compressing the time taken for a product to go from an idea to prototype.

Primary Purpose of the Service Designers

The Service Designers are key members of the Product Delivery team and work closely with NSW Government Partner Agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver new products and services for the citizens of NSW. Working as part of an Agile Delivery team, this role is responsible for driving an agile delivery process, including discovery workshop and interview facilitation, user research and story mapping to work toward solution design and delivery.

Do you have:

• An understanding of design thinking principals and experience working with agile methodologies
• A portfolio of work that includes samples from all areas of service design (customer journey maps, wireframes, prototypes etc)
• Passion for digital and the possibilities it brings for clients
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work well independently with clients, as a project lead or as an individual team member
• A degree in design related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in user experience design or related field. Plus, basic business analyst skill, including engaging business clients and capturing requirements, identifying gaps and collecting information.
• The ability to work under high pressure and tight time-frames.
