About the business
The Judicial Commission of New South Wales is an independent statutory corporation established under the Judicial Officers Act 1986. The Commission's principal functions are to:
- organise and supervise an appropriate scheme for the continuing education and training of judicial officers
- assist the courts to achieve consistency in imposing sentences, and
- examine complaints against judicial officers
About the role
The successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to provide leadership to research staff with regard to many facets of their work including, the monitoring of sentences imposed by courts, and disseminating information for the purpose of assisting courts to achieve consistency in imposing sentences.
Benefits and perks
Total remuneration package valued up to $160,189 (including salary range from $124,965 to $144,521 p.a.), employer's contribution to superannuation, and annual leave loading.
Skills and experience
If you would like to join this highly regarded and internationally recognised organisation you will need to have:
- Tertiary qualifications in law
- Sound knowledge and experience in criminal and sentencing law
- High level analytical skills complemented by experience in writing papers and/or conducting research studies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Management experience in a legal environment
- Good organisational skills with a capacity to schedule workloads and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as function individually when required
