Organisational Overview

Skills Impact is a national not for profit, Skills Services Organisation. We work in collaboration with industry, government and training providers to identify and define national skills standards to meet the needs of various agricultural, manufacturing and service industries. Skills Impact is contracted by the Commonwealth Government to provide services that enable Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) to undertake industry engagement and training package development activities, while remaining independent from both industry and the training sector itself.

National Manager Stakeholder and Government Engagement

The National Manager Stakeholder and Government Engagement (NMSGE) supports a team of Industry Facilitation Managers and is responsible for the team and their stakeholder engagement accountabilities.

The NMSGE is also the primary point of liaison with the Department of Education and Training (DET) for all of Skills Impact’s Industry Reference Committee activities. In addition the NMSGE is responsible for outsourced IRC support service providers which includes liaison, support and monitoring of contract fulfillment.

A key aspect of the role will be to develop and implement Skills Impact stakeholder engagement and service delivery strategies by supporting Industry Facilitation Manager’s (IFMs) stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Attend all Industry Reference Committee’s (IRCs) and provide insight into cross industry trends and potential commonalities effecting the delivery of vocational education and training package development.
  • Identifying common threads between sectors that will assist in finding solutions to shared problems.
  • Guide and monitor Industry engagement for each sector in line with the stakeholder engagement plan
  • Provide reports on the level of stakeholder engagement delivered through IFMs and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Monitor and maintain high levels of service to IRC members

 

To be successful in this role you should have the following:

  • Highly developed and demonstrated facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with Industry in the context of the VET sector and/or within government.
  • Team management expertise with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring
  • Proven ability to identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Successfully manage stakeholder issues as a point of escalation from IFMs
  • Experience in gathering industry intelligence, identify emerging trends and predict affects (on future training).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and report writing skills, with the objective of influencing opinions
  • An understanding of the vocational education and training (VET) system and training package development framework.
  • Willingness to carry out a national travel schedule (between one and three flights per month on average)
