We want to hear from you because we have several postions for APS4 Legal, Policy and Reform Officers. You must have a Security clearance at the NV1 level or higher for these roles.

The specifics:
The Legal, Policy and Reforms Section manages all legal, policy and reform matters including managing key reform projects, progressing legislative reforms (Act and legislative instruments) and legal case file review and advice pertaining to applications for background checks.   

Specific duties / responsibilities for the section includes:

• Casework - the review of complex applications for background checks in accordance with the AusCheck Act and Regulations;
• Providing assistance to AusCheck staff on specific operational, policy and legal matters, such as the spent convictions scheme, to ensure background check assessments comply with relevant and applicable legislation and regulations; 
• Assisting with the legal and policy issues and implementation arrangements for reforms (including regulatory design and development) to expand the scope of background checking;
• Assisting to support the Departmental Executive across a number of policy areas including serious and organised crime, justice and national security related committees, boards and councils.You must be an Australian citizen and have a current NV1 security clearance to apply for this role.
