Our Federal Government Client is seeking an experienced consultant or contractor to fullfil the needs of the departments various programmes in the Programme and Project Assurance capacity.

The Programme and Project Assurer supports the Director and drives the development, implementation, delivery and continual improvement of assurance capability and services across portfolio(s), programmes and projects.

In performing a leadership role, the Assurer identifies, drives and operationalises innovation and change, and has an active role in contributing to the implementation of the department's portfolio management office direction. The Assurer contributes to the development and implementation of agile, innovative and strategically aligned plans to meet demands and the changing environment. The Assurer works in partnership with other critical delivery partners and customers to build valued relationships and enduring trust within the department.

The Assurer will coach and mentor staff to fulfil outcomes in line with agreed plans. They also develop talent to enable staff to achieve their full potential, identifying talent and creating development opportunities.

The key duties include the following:

• Drive the delivery and continual improvement of assurance services and associated capabilities
• Introduce industry best practice to support the maturity development of assurance related capabilities
• Drive the quality assurance of the portfolio, programmes and projects by applying innovative and best practice proactive assurance and recovery measures
• Drive the strengthening of portfolio, programme and project planning and closure to ensure the delivery of agreed outcomes
• Drive the collaboration with programmes and projects in the early and ongoing effective management of risks and issues
• Drive the delivery of expert assurance advice and consultancy towards strengthening portfolio, programme and project management
• Undertake facilitation of workshops and presentations, as well as deliver coaching and mentoring to programmes and projects
• Drive critical analysis and research into portfolio, programme and project management challenges and provide evidence based management strategies
• Drive a culture that is service oriented, whilst agile and contextual in delivery
• Drive innovation and change to actively deliver value
• Provide operational advice and reporting to stakeholders and the department's executive
• Foster enduring partnerships to form consistent and lean practices to deliver value adding services and capabilities
• Provide briefs and reports to committees and senior executives.

You would also have a knowledge and understanding of:

• Industry portfolio, programme and project management best practice frameworks and technologies, with a particular focus on assurance and risk management
• Agile and waterfall project methodologies
• The Three Lines of Defence.

You must be an Australian citizen and have a current Baseline security clearance to apply for this role.
