Energy is essential for Australia’s economy and modern lifestyle — it underpins almost everything we do. Our electricity and gas markets are experiencing rapid and unprecedented change. In this context, ensuring households and businesses have access to affordable, reliable, secure and sustainable energy supplies is one of the Australian Government’s top priorities.
This is your chance to join a fast-paced and dynamic team at the forefront of Australia’s energy transformation.
Energy Division develops policy underpinning the operation of Australia’s electricity and gas markets. The division is responsible for several high-profile initiatives to improve energy market outcomes, including implementing the findings of the Independent Review into the Future Security of the National Electricity Market (the Finkel Review), delivering the Commonwealth components of the National Energy Guarantee and increasing Australia’s energy productivity. We also facilitate the operation of the COAG Energy Council and support the work of the Commonwealth Minister for the Environment and Energy in achieving the Australian Government’s energy policy objectives.
Energy Division is looking to fill ongoing and non-ongoing (up to 12 months) vacancies in several teams. Depending on which team you join, your duties may include:
- High-level qualitative and quantitative policy analysis regarding Australia’s wholesale electricity markets and regulated electricity networks.
- Development of policy settings for the Commonwealth components of the National Energy Guarantee.
- Senior secretariat support to the COAG Energy Council, including oversight of the Council’s work program.
- Management of a small team to deliver diverse and complex projects.
