Your work will encompass new product development designs from initial concept to completion. Working closely with the Quality and Manufacturing team to align their methodologies and your knowledge to drive product improvement.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Extensive Solidworks/Engineering experience. Well-versed design and prototyping skills.
- Design work involving 3D models and 2D drawing software, investigations, analysis and testing
- Verify components and systems are fit for purpose against requirements. Complete investigations and analysis across the product lifecycle.
- Perform research, rapid prototyping, design and development on mechanical parts and assemblies (eg: FEA software for stress analysis)
- Conduct feasibility studies test and verification of new modified designs
- Concept testing with clients, external stakeholders and take accountability for mechanical components and subsystems from initial concept through to completion
- Meet project milestones on time with high quality and low manufacturing cost
- Drive New Product Development & Design Improvements (Electro – Opto - Mechanical) Produce Product Improvement Designs
- Knowledge of tooling for plastics, casting and sheet metal fabrication.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will need to prove skills and abilities in line with below:
- Degree and 5 years’ experience
- Deep experience in electro – mechanical product development
- Must have excellent communication skills
- A keen eye for detail with a logical approach to problem solving
- Product and Industrial Design skills a plus
- 3D CAD/Solidworks experience
- Desirable experience in design of CNC/Sheetmetal/fabricated/injection moulded components
- Enthusiasm, Drive, Initiative and Delivery DNA
- Opto-mechanical design experience a plus
- Experience in low cost manufacturing or highly regulated industries a plus (automotive, aerospace, medical, telecoms)
- Enthusiasm to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to go above and beyond as needs arise
