Tasks and responsibilities:
- Act as liaison between the Engineering Organization located in Germany the Engineering Project Organisations in Australia and the Subcontractors/Shipbuilder’s organizations located in Australia.
- Provide technical authority with special respect to Australian Shipbuilder specific adaption and further development of basic documentation provided by the Lead Engineers in Germany.
- Responsible for the design-/production-related knowledge transfer between Luerssen Technical Departments and the Australian Subcontractors/Shipbuilders.
- Report to the respective Department Head within Luerssen Germany and project related report to the Engineering Manager Australia.
- Inter-discipline collaboration and inter-project teamwork to manage interfaces and overlapping tasks.
- Responsible for the execution of the Australian-specific adaption of the related engineering scope
- Planning and Monitoring of the respective engineering activities in Australia.
- Provide short-term clarification of questions from relating engineering departments in Germany.
- Monitoring and status reporting of the engineering activities of the Australian Subcontractors.
- Giving design Acceptance for respective deliverables from Australian Subcontractors.
- Monitoring and status reporting of production-related activities.
- Give production-related technical advice.
- Manage the change management process (BUF) regarding all items within the related engineering scope.
General Profile:
- A relevant engineering or technology qualification with knowledge and understanding across all requirements in similar size naval vessels to the OPV.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Defence industry and 2 years in a technical role on a developmental project.
- Experience in weapon system integration and commissioning.
- Basic knowledge of combat management systems.
- Basic knowledge of navigation systems and tactical communication systems.
- Knowledge in processes of systems engineering (e.g. ISO 12207 / 15288).
- Experience in realisation of systems according to military standards.
- Demonstrated experience regarding the design of complex systems and experience in contract management.
- Efficient interaction with production regarding shipbuilding processes and integration of systems on board.
- Demonstrated capability in the coordination of Commonwealth contact within a project environment.
Additional Information:
- Initial induction will be in Bremen, Germany; followed by approx. two years of deployment in Adelaide, Australia.
- Whilst the role will finally be based out of our office in Henderson WA, it will require a constant dialogue with and thus travelling between shipyards in Osborne/SA and Henderson/WA.
