Naval Group Australia has one singular focus - to design and build 12 state-of-the-art submarines for our country.

As we continue this undertaking, we are now looking for a Propulsion Engineer to live and work in France for a 3-5 year period.  You will be part of a significant transfer of technology by Naval Group Australia and form part of our future design authority team.

As a Propulsion Engineer, you will be ready to work in a project capacity - bringing your experience across electrical propulsion motors, storage of electrical energy & network architectures to the Future Submarines program.

Job Summary:

  • Participate in the design studies in the field of “Propulsion” for conventional submarines
  • Assist in the technical-economic offers in the Energy-Propulsion sector
  • Complete R&D studies in the field of electricity

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Post graduate studies in Marine Engineering ideal
  • 10 years of experience in naval propulsion systems
  • Experience with Electric propulsion motors, propellers & diesel generators

You will develop strong internal relationships with other system managers, naval architects and designers from other departments. External to the business you will liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and specialists of all platform systems.

Knowledge of the industrial environment in the field of propulsion and simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink will be highly advantageous.

The successful applicant must be eligible for an Australian & French defence security clearances; where by Australian citizenship is required.
