An opportunity has become available for a qualified and experienced Project Engineer - Civil to join our high performing Capital Projects team based out of our head office in Cooma. The high level purpose of this role is to act as an owner's engineer to provide civil design oversight, supervision, technical support and quality requirements to the project teams to ensure that the integrity of the civil engineering meets the long-term reliability requirements for the business.

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Projects, you will be responsible for:

• Providing expertise and know-how to develop consultant scopes, technical specifications, reviewing and approving design calculations, conducting site quality inspections, witness testing and product acceptance.  Support the project teams in the performance of discrete tasks with specific input to risk management plans

• Provide field engineering services, technical review, support and design management to the Project Managers and Site Managers as a major stakeholder

• Support the Capital Projects team, the Senior Project Engineer and Project Managers in the Civil Engineering elements for delivery of the project works.  Prepare Design Management Plans and deliver accurate and timely reporting on design and project engineering productivity and issues arising in a proactive and timely manner providing control strategies.  

• Diagnose and provide input and recommendations about improvements to the design and project engineering processes, understand best practice performance for similar processes and use this knowledge to improve project delivery.  Regularly discuss and encourage improvements to work practices with Projects, Production and Asset Management & Engineering employees and obtain team input during routine and project work.

• Actively seek ways to improve own technical and engineering skills and capabilities by additional education, training, learning forums, and practicing.

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering satisfying the eligibility requirements for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.

• Sound civil engineering capability with 5 years experience to review & assess consultant designs and recommendations.

• 5 years experience in large scale or complex civil and multi-discipline projects in the construction, mining, power or similar industries.

• Onsite management/interaction skills conduct site quality inspection and witness testing.

• Experience in a multi-discipline team environment, with specialist knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of hydro assets in the relevant discipline.

• High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of an organisation and external stakeholders.

•  Well developed analytical and research skills.

• Sound knowledge of Quality, OH&S, EEO and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.

• Appropriate licences.
