Mater Health Services North Queensland provides private hospital and health care services to Townsville and the North Queensland region.  Its facilities comprise two of the regions largest and most complex private healthcare facilities, operating two fully accredited tertiary hospitals at its Hyde Park and Pimlico campuses. 

The hospital campuses include single and multi story hospital buildings providing in excess of 200 patient private rooms and wards, operating theatres, catheter labs and procedure rooms.  Both have independent support services including kitchen and laundry services with centralised energy and building services plant including chilled water systems, hot water and steam generation.  The hospital is currently reviewing its master plan with a view to further expansion of its clinical services and capital infrastructure on both campuses.

We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer / Technician to join our maintenance department.  The successful candidate will need to be well presented and organised.  You must be a self-starter, naturally enthusiastic, have a professional client manner and unquestionable technical ability with plenty of initiative.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications (desirable) in Bioengineering, or proven experience in a similar role
  • A sound knowledge of relevant industry standards and fault finding techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use and function of biomedical equipment and test instruments
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience within a hospital environment
  • The ability to plan and coordinate varying workloads
  • Testing, compliance, repairs and maintenance of biomedical and related equipment
  • Maintenance of medical equipment as prescribed in the biomedical register
  • Appropriate recording of service and maintenance history
  • Provision of electrical services to the hospital including electrical testing
  • Liaison with suppliers and manufacturers as required
  • Ensuring all bio-medical and electrical statutory requirements are satisfied
  • Development, evaluation and maintenance of preventative maintenance programs
  • Assistance with assessment of equipment replacement proposals as appropriate
  • Staff education and training as appropriate

 An attractive remuneration package commensurate with experience will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
