The Role

The Waterways and Land North East Delivery NRM & Grass Team Leader is accountable for providing leadership and empowering  a team of supervisors and field based crews to deliver a diverse range of natural resource management and grass management delivery programs across the North East Region of Melbourne Water’s operational area.  The successful candidate needs to have a drive and focus on safety, innovation, high performing team development and experience in identifying, developing and implementing delivery or operational improvement opportunities and programs. Pivotal to this will be the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse team to deliver business outcomes.

We aim to make roles flexible, and whilst roles are advertised as fulltime we will consider requests for flexible work arrangements, including part time and job share.

Your Skills and Experience

• Leadership: Develop and lead a significant and diverse team responsible for the development of delivery strategies, managing performance and delivering improved business outcomes. Work across the broader Waterways and Land Delivery team to ensure that the team meets its Business Plan commitments, targets and KPI’s.
• Safety: Lead and implement a generative safety culture approach that ensures a commitment to zero harm.
• Delivery improvement: Accountable for tracking performance against KPI’s and implementing program delivery improvements and efficiencies through leading change.
• Improved customer experience:  Focus on building relationships and understanding customer requirements and expectations for works execution of maintenance and minor capital delivery programs.
• Living within our means: Having a relentless focus on efficient and effective work processes, practices and resource utilisation. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that maintenance and minor capital programs are efficiently delivered and within the budgets held by the initiator.

• Investing in people: Invest in the team by creating and maintaining a high performing operating environment. Provide coaching and leadership to support personal development and achieve improved safe working processes and practices. Promote and lead the development of a diverse and inclusive team in line with Melbourne Water’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.

  Your ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal teams as well as external service providers and stakeholders is required together with a qualification in a relevant degree or extensive operational experience.
