Signal Director

Chandler Macleod are extremely excited to partner with a long-standing client within the transport sector to appoint a Signal Designer to join their Electrical team. Based in Brisbane the role will be for an initial 18month contract working 24hours per week. Our client, a top-50 ASX-listed company and Australia’s largest rail freight operator, are on the search for a graduate/post graduate qualified Engineer or business professional to positively contribute to the overall success of the electrical team.

The role will involve undertaking site inspections to determine design requirements, while engaging in the preparation of plans to support the delivery of Signaling Projects. You will be confident in responding to and communicating effectively with stakeholders, supervisors and peers daily, with quality interpersonal and verbal communication skills utilized. You will find yourself contributing to the identification of opportunities for business improvements and technology development whilst meeting quality management system requirements; providing consistently safe practices and infrastructure designs always.

What you will need to succeed:

• High level of skill in the design infrastructure.
• A strong understanding and adherence to Design Specifications and Standards.
• Highly experience in the use of CADD systems and Drawing Management Systems.
• Good time management, self-checking and personal ownership of design tasks, a must.
• Strong ability to negotiate and consult through interpersonal and written communications.
• Previous experience mentoring less experienced team members and working effectively within a team required.

Required experience and qualifications:

• Proven success in managing Cost vs Budget.
• Ability to achieve millstone deliverables within tight timeframes.
• Safety compliance experience or certification (Highly advantageous).
• 10+ Years of on the job design experience, preferably for signaling projects.
• Tertiary/advanced Engineering diploma or equivalent Signaling qualification (Mandatory).

Mandatory Software experience:

• AutoCAD
• Microstation V8i onwards
• Meridian/Project wise or Similar DMS
