One of the fastest growing Council in Melbourne West is looking for a Construction Engineer to undertake Major design works on Councils Capital Works Program, provide project outcomes, coordination and engineering services in an efficient manner, and contribute to the success of the Infrastructure Directorate through active teamwork.
As a Construction Engineer, you will develop project briefs, liaise with other Council departments, and external parties, to implement projects, undertake survey, design, drafting and cost estimate, for projects, including preparation of written reports on the progress of the project. Make decisions and recommendations on technical and non-technical issues based on precedent established by previous experience, policy or developed from theory. Experience in design and drafting using 12D Solution/ARD and AutoCAD. Familiarity with budgeting techniques. Manage own time and plan, organize and prioritise own work to achieve objectives within timetable and budgetary constraints. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to liaise with stake holders at all levels, including the ability to write reports and prepare external correspondence.
Candidate will need to be degree qualified in Civil Engineering, have a current Australian valid license as well as the rights to live and work in Australia. Performing audits and ensuring the quality control of civil works experience, and a solid understanding of Engineering principles with the ability to solve complex engineering problems. Well-developed experience (minimum 3 years) in either road design, drainage, construction and traffic engineering. Experience in operating computer aided design and drafting programs and engineering survey using a total station. Project management experience is also needed as well as a well-developed leadership skills and experience to lead multi-disciplined projects.
