This is a fantastic opening for a Design Engineer to join our Composite team as we continue to develop the rocket and related manufacturing capabilities.

This role will focus on ensuring ongoing improvements to the Electron Launch Vehicle’s design and manufacturing processes. You will work closely on the design and manufacturability of various composite parts and assemblies, engaging with design and test engineers and composites technicians.

A strong understanding of composite manufacturing techniques along with related CAD and engineering skills is essential for this role. We are looking for an individual who can solve material and process related issues utilizing existing methods as well as developing innovative new manufacturing methods to support development.

We are looking for an individual who thrives in a very dynamic, fast pace environment. You will be challenged daily and to succeed you will need to be able to learn quickly and utilize your own initiative whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines. 


Minimum Requirements for the Design Engineer – Composite Manufacturing
  • 4+ years industry experience with composite design and manufacturing is required. Bachelor of Engineering preferred
  • Experience working with composite materials and a thorough understanding of composite manufacturing processes and methods
  • The ability to read, interpret and create CAD data for manufacturing and associated work instructions
  • Comfortable working with engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) and drawing revisions
  • Highly organised
  • Equally comfortable in the workshop and at a desk
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Lean Six Sigma principles is preferred
  • Excellent MS Office skills and communication
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, self-motivated and open to learning
  • Confident working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Self motivated, with a can do attitude
