Role Overview

We are seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced candidate to support engineering activities associated with through life support contracts, in accordance with CAE’s engineering management system as well as engineering activities associated with upgrades and installations.

The position will be located in Silverwater and will report to the Development Engineering - Group Lead.

Key Responsibilities

Work within a team of Software and Hardware Engineers demonstrating commitment to and understanding of the principles and practice of state-of-the-art software engineering, and apply this practice in accordance with project standards to develop working software.

You will be required to work closely with client representatives as well as other Software Engineers, Technical Leaders and Project Managers.

Software engineering tasks will include:

  • Requirements,
  • Design,
  • Implementation Testing,
  • Deployment,
  • Customer Support,
  • Configuration Management and
  • Documentation.

You will need to be familiar and comfortable with Systems Engineering principles:  all work must be conducted in accordance with the processes defined for the project/activity.

Essential qualifications and experience

(note these MUST be addressed in a covering letter)

  • Graduate degree in Engineering discipline (Computer Systems or similar).
  • Eligible for membership to the Institute of Engineers (Australia).
  • Experience working with common interfaces that exist between CSCs
  • Experience working with UNIX (or UNIX-type, such as AIX) Operating System, Windows Operating Systems, or other Operating Systems as applicable.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Further / post-graduate studies
  • Previous Simulation experience in CAE simulation technology.
  • Use of CAE software development tools and utilities as applicable (SIMex, CTS, STRIVE, etc).
  • Experience working with DIS / HLA standards for Distributed Computer Simulation systems, an advantage
  • Knowledge of aeronautical / aircraft systems, an advantage
  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare systems, an advantage
  • Understanding of the documentation standards and hierarchy.

Note: as the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for SECRET (NV1) level Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current SECRET (NV1) clearance.
