Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) has been contracted by Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, on behalf of the Victorian Government, to design, build and maintain the stations and tunnels for the Metro Tunnel Project. CYP brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners, John Holland Lend lease and Bouygues Construction, that possess the world's best experience in tunneling, engineering and construction.

This multi-Billion-dollar Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometer tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

We currently have an opportunity available for an experienced GPP Coordinator to play a key role in execution of this iconic Melbourne project. This position requires you to manage and coordinate a Ground Penetration Permit (GPP) system (or also referred to as an excavation permit system) for all works where ground is broken. 

This is a project wide role which interfaces with each of the precincts’ teams. Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Preparing GPP documentation as required by precinct teams. i.e. Dial Before You dig documents, GIS information
  • Coordinate and consult with asset owners to ensure all requirements and approvals are achieved.
  • Arrange to positively identify all known services in a nominated work zone.
  • Positive identification of services in accordance with the asset owner’s requirements
  • Coordinate with project surveyors to ensure they pick up services as they are positively identified and add to the GIS model.
  • Site briefings with all work force for specific task in the nominated area that the GPP permit applies.
  • Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project
  • Participate in the incident reporting and root cause analyse with the safety team.
  • Sign off on Hold Points in the GPP process
  • Identify and record any unknown/redundant services and notify relevant asset owner.
  • Participate in GPP system audits as required.
  • Ensure legislative, pre-contract and commercial obligations are met, including compliance with the relevant Building Code
  • Perform all duties in accordance with CYP policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures

To succeed in your role, it is expected you will have experience in;

  • Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience with at least 2 years’ experience in managing multiple services disciplines on large complex construction sites
  • Client relationship and stakeholder management
  • Quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment
  • Analysis of and reporting on project performance, compliance and defects and/or non-conformance
  • Experience in managing a variety of contracts, e.g. Joint Ventures, Alliances, Design & Construct.
