The Role:
In the role of Senior Engineer (Electrical) will you will provide high level electrical engineering support and advice for the efficient and effective operation of the traffic management systems, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and roadway lighting within the state.
Your key duties and responsibilities include:
- Extensive knowledge of the 2002 Electrical Safety Act Qld for all electrical projects within the region.
- Liaise with and provide technical information to designers, contactors and relevant project managers.
- Produce design briefs and project charters for transport systems.
- Review, inspect and create detailed design drawings, specifications and estimates for intelligent transport systems, roadway lighting and traffic signals systems and manage their delivery.
- Provide input to and prepare technical specifications for electrical engineering projects undertaken by the department.
- Develop and apply technical and administrative solutions to transport management systems enhancement, extensions and operations.
- Liaise with project management teams, associated contractors and designers, state government agencies, local governments, Energex, Telstra, Region and RoadTek staff to maintain effective roadway lighting and operation of the traffic management systems on the state road network.
- Investigate and report on innovations, developments or modifications in related practices, procedures, equipment or materials in relation to their relevance to the impact of projects on traffic management for the department.
This role reports to the Principal Engineer (Electrical & ITS).
The Candidate:
- Possesses a Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification which is accepted by Engineers Australia
- It is mandatory that you are a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
- A current "C" class drivers license
