Caterpillar Global Mining is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager. In this role you will work with Global Accounts’ customers and will be responsible for managing the execution of continuous improvement projects that fulfill contractual/alliance obligations. The contractual commitments include deliverables in areas such as mining equipment management, application and production optimization. You will represent Caterpillar with some of Global Mining’s largest, most diverse, most loyal customers to improve their operations, maintenance requirements and other optimization initiatives. You will work with a diverse range of customers, dealers, product groups and Caterpillar go-to-market teams. This is generally a position for an experienced individual contributor who can work on assignments that are complex, challenging and often strategic in nature.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute CI initiatives and activities for specific customers/sites. Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of action, making timely decisions and continuously enhancing communication skills.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with customers, dealers and Caterpillar go-to-market teams to achieve CI objectives and targets.
  • Establish relationships with business decision-makers and identify business needs and problems. Provide input to customer’s operation and systems.
  • Achieve alignment of various parties at Caterpillar, dealers and key end-user personnel.
  • Provide a clear vision for success and drive CI execution to achieve our commitments through your deep subject matter expertise in equipment management, production optimization, safety and application.
  • Partner with dealer personnel to direct the day-to-day activity related to contractual commitments at each site.
  • Successfully deliver on all areas of contractual commitments by leveraging your thorough understanding of Caterpillar and dealer capabilities.
  • Work with Caterpillar product groups and other internal stakeholders to understand the technical and operational capabilities of our equipment, technology and services.
  • Create innovative new value-added capabilities to optimize customers’ operations.
  • Initiate and manage job studies to develop production data and M&R projects. Assess the need and suitability of analysis and application tools like FPC (Fleet Production software) and SAT.
  • Good human relations skills are required to develop and lead collaborative/cooperative initiatives with – internal and external – individuals from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and possess the ability to lead and set priorities for work teams without day-to-day direct supervision.
  • Enhance use of Caterpillar systems and develop leadership abilities.
  • Manage the completion of your own work assignments and coordinate work with others. Plan, monitor and control all aspects of projects.
  • Must be comfortable working with a wide range of customer personnel, including corporate leaders, procurement and operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent
  • Extensive job-related experience in equipment management, application and production optimization
  • Prior experience in field assignments

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar products, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of 6 sigma and project management tools
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, communicate effectively with others in the work group, dealer personnel and customers
  • Demonstrated deep subject matter expertise and experience in the management of equipment (operation, maintenance and application)

Must be willing to travel extensively (50-70%) as well as relocate based upon business needs.
