Genesis CancerCare (part of the GenesisCare group) is the largest provider of radiation therapy in Australia. Each year the group performs around 360,000 treatments through its network of 26 sites. 

THE ROLE

Applications are being sought from Linac Service Engineers wishing to join our dynamic team of health care professionals. We are also open to explore candidates with no prior Linac experience having tertiary education in any of the following, Biomedical, Radar/telecommunication, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering and a good electro-mechanical aptitude.

This permanent full-time position, will work as part of a dedicated team maintaining equipment located at multiple sites throughout South Australia.

Key to the role will be providing breakdown, maintenance and repair services for Elekta Linear Accelerators and associated equipments. The role reports to the South Australia Engineering Manager and provides support to management and clinical services through technical assistance and ongoing feedback. 

Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform routine troubleshooting and repairs on the designated modality with a 95% success rate of diagnosing the problem while working within the escalation procedure.
  • Perform routine calibrations and preventative maintenance on their designated modality and secondary modality.
  • Co-ordinate Planned Maintenance.
  • Work safely in confined areas, including high current/ high voltages modulators (20- 50 kV, 1500A),
  • Work safely on full range of products including medical devices producing high-energy ionizing radiation.
  • Read, analyse, interpret and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Instruct customers and staff in proper use of the equipment.
  • Stay current on all new products.
  • Submit timely and accurately; service reports, timesheets, expense reports, TLD badges and other paper work as assigned.
  • Parts inventory management.
  • Maintain all company equipment, including company computer, parts, and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

The successful applicant will: 

  • Be required to travel to local and regional sites to perform necessary duties.
  • Provide ongoing preventative maintenance and quality assurance testing.
  • Provide remote and on-site engineering support.
  • Provide after -hours support services. (when needed)
  • Maintain spare parts repository and documentation.
  • Maintain Service request database and records.
  • Undertake ongoing training which may include national and/or International travel.

    Skills, Knowledge and Experience required for the position:

    Essential:  

  • A current South Australian driver's licence.
  • An accredited qualification in electronics or relevant field.
  • Ability to function under pressure.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent experience with Elekta Radiotherapy technology.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

 Desirable:  

  • Recognised Elekta training.
  • Current South Australian Radiation Safety license in Irradiating Apparatus.
  • A current South Australian restricted electrical license.
