Due to a strong project pipeline we are looking to recruit a Principal Geotechnical Engineer for our Newcastle office.

Cardno’s national Geotechnical teams provide integrated environmental, hydrogeological and geotechnical engineering consulting services to a wide range of private and public sector clients working on infrastructure and developments across Australia. Our Newcastle office is looking to continue to grow its capabilities in the region with the appointment of a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer.
 
The Role
Whilst being a driven and influential individual, you will play an integral role in projects. Key responsibilities will include:

• Work on a wide range of projects which will include land development, roads, rail, bridges and pipelines
• Contribute to a diverse range of projects from inception to completion. The ability to work project management / client relationships is essential
• Undertake fieldwork, including the independent planning, supervision and reporting of site investigations
• Undertake geotechnical analysies, modelling and design in areas such as slope stability, pavements, foundations, retaining walls and excavation design with capability to operate software such as RS2, Slope/W and Plaxis
• Good track record in delivery of projects; ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard to meet client expectations and timelines
• Work with a wide variety of experienced professionals in a multi-disciplinary international consulting services company

 
Your Experience
In addition to your enthusiasm and drive, you will demonstrate the following:

• Land development, Road infrastructure, Railways and Urban development
• Ideally you will have 10+ years’ hands on experience with tertiary qualifications in engineering or geology and have worked within a consultancy environment before
• Have excellent report writing and communication and demonstrated experience delivering on time and on budget
• Must have an excellent attitude and be capable of working within a dynamic environment and have experience leading and developing junior staff
• Well-developed creative and problem solving skills and excellent technical ability
• Demonstrated experience in project management, people management, client liaison and tender preparation as this will also be a key element of the position
