Brisbane has more than $15 billion worth of passenger and freight rail projects in the pipeline due to a major infrastructure investment. As such, our client, a leading engineering firm requires require expertise of a Brisbane based Civil Rail Designer to join the global Rail and Mass Transit team. 

This is an opportunity to contribute to mega projects which will put Brisbane on the global-stage. Complex and challenging project portfolio which will always keep you on your toes. This role will be responsible for managing the track and civil design for projects in varied stages and building strong client relationships though consistent communication and delivery of successful projects.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you would be responsible for:

• Coordination and management of the track design process including development of ballasted and non-ballasted track structures, track alignment, profile, grading and associated drainage, assessment of vehicle/infrastructure clearances.
• Managing interdisciplinary liaison and integration to ensure delivery of project designs that are inclusive and consistent throughout all design disciplines.
• Working with Project Managers on developing design schedule and budgets.
• Conducting periodic trackwork inspection to ensure compliance with Quality Management, Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Preparation of technical reports, design briefs, design analysis and calculations.
• Calculation of quantities, preparation of cost estimates, project specifications and construction bid/tender documents.
• Supervision, mentoring and building technical ability of junior designers/engineers.

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• 7+ years in railway track design
• Have experience being a key client representative
• Preferred Software experience in but not limited to – MicroStation, AutoCAD, 12d Model, Bentley Rail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience in heavy haul, freight, commuter and light rail transit projects desired.
