Balpara's electrical division specialises in project management, Engineering Design, Drafting and site management of substation, underground and overhead distribution and power industry related work.
The Role & Requirements
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Primary Design Engineer to perform design duties, both in office and field environments for the following types of works:
- Design high voltage power systems for distribution utilities on overhead and underground lines up to 66kV
- Demonstrated skills and experience in substation design concept to final detailed design
- Understanding of HV clearances, ratings, earthing, electric and magnetic fields designs
- Experience in a ‘Design-for-Construction' environment
- Substation augmentation for various projects
- Basic field survey works
- Liaising with civil engineers, assisting with the calculations
- Assist Project Managers from a technical capability as required on line designs
Skills and Experience
- Previous overhead and underground design distribution experience required
- Proven experience in substation design, including evidence of large substation projects
- Experience developing designs associated with HV Primary Systems including, cable/load flow and earthing studies
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
- Prior experience & general understanding of AutoCAD
- Knowledge/familiarity with power distribution networks & their standards
- Well developed written and oral communication skills
